Margaret Brouwer

  • Margaret Brouwer has just completed a Percussion Concerto, which will be premiered by Evelyn Glennie and Gerard Schwarz with the Seattle Symphony in the fall of 2002.

  • Her new work SIZZLE was premiered by the Women's Philharmonic in September 2000, on a concert which also included her Symphony No. 1. SIZZLE will also be performed by the American Composers' Orchestra.

  • Brouwer's Chamber Concerto was presented by clarinetist Robert Spring in the Pro Arts Chamber Series in Columbus, OH, and her Horn Sonata was recently performed by Peter Kurau of the Eastman School of Music.

  • The Cleveland Museum of Art will present a concert of Brouwer's chamber music on June 6, 2001, featuring two new works. Leon Bates will premiere Under the summer tree . . . for solo piano, and soprano Sandra Simon, harpsichordist Jeannette Sorrell, and others will premiere Light, for Pierrot ensemble plus percussion.

  • Other upcoming performances include Diary of an Alien and Skyriding in a Prelude Concert of the National Symphony Orchestra on June 2, 2001, and Demeter Prelude by the Cavani String Quartet on October 28, 2001.

  • Brouwer has recently been commissioned by the Cleveland Chamber Symphony and the Verdehr Trio. She will be in residency at the MacDowell Colony this summer during July and August.
