Walter Ehret has crafted a marvelous new arrangement of this familiar spiritual that will be a popular addition to the repertoire of good high school and college choirs. The piano part is especially expressive and effective. Moderately difficult. Spiritual.

This fresh arrangement of an enduring popular favorite has some new harmonic twists that give the familiar patriotic song a whole new sound. Unison sections contrast nicely with the richly harmonized parts that have the careful voice leading characteristic of the writer. This piece will be a perfect selection for patriotic occasions and graduation. Moderately difficult. Patriotic.

Be Thou My Vision - Traditional Irish Melody (Slane); arranged by Hal H. Hopson for Four-part Mixed Voices with Keyboard and Handbells. One of the most beloved of contemporary hymn tunes, Slane, is best known set to these words derived from an ancient Irish poem by Mary E. Byrne and Eleanor H. Huli. This new version, by Hal Hopson, lets the lovely tune shine forth with some simple part writing and sections that contrast male and female voices. The Handbell parts add a rich embellishment to the beautiful melody. Easy. General Church.

That hardy perennial, Carol of the Bells, is now available in two additional fine new versions by Pat Liebergen. The Two-part arrangement (CM8501 - $1.30) was a big hit several years ago and these new versions are also first rate. Moderately easy. Christmas.

Celebrate the White House - Sandy Feldstein for SATB and Keyboard. (Optional Band accompaniment: YPS14 - $45.00). This charming and soulful piece is a setting of a fervent text by the second President of the United States, John Adams. A tribute to one of the great symbols of the Republic, the musical setting was written to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the White House. Comfortable ranges and a not too challenging Piano part make Celebrate the White House a selection that can show good Jr. High School and High School Choirs to best effect. Moderately easy. Patriotic.

Using two melodies (Sebben, Crudele - Caldara and Tu Lo Sai - Torelli) by celebrated baroque composers, Earlene Rentz has fashioned a lovely new "Alleluia" for mixed voices that will fit into many church and school situations.
