Recording If you wish to record one of our copyrighted publications, you must obtain what is known as a Mechanical License. The fee for U.S. recordings is set by the government from time to time. The current statutory rate is Nine and One Tenth Cents ($0.091) for songs five minutes or less in duration, or One and Three-Quarters Cents ($0.0175) per minute or fraction thereof, for songs over five minutes.
