Located in New York City, the company maintains its own production, marketing, sales and copyright & licensing departments. We also assist many orchestras, ensembles and universities throughout the world with our music rental and custom print departments.

Performance Promotion


Performance Promotion Manager

Theodore Presser Company and Carl Fischer Music are seeking a Performance Promotion Manager. The primary role of the position is to generate performances of music from both companies’ concert-music catalogs by cultivating relationships with concert programmers. This is a full-time position based in the New York office.


Responsibilities include:

  • Promote concert music works to generate performances
  • Formulate and implement broad promotion strategies
  • Set up meetings with concert programmers, conductors, performers and artistic administrators as a primary method of promoting the catalog
  • Actively seek opportunities to establish excellent collaborative relationships across all industry organizations
  • Attend industry events and concerts to promote the catalog
  • Support composer relations and participate in recruiting new composers
  • Facilitate negotiation of commission fees and review commissioning contracts
  • Collaborate closely with Marketing Manager to manage all aspects of conventions, sale/event/collateral promotions, and print or web advertising for concert music catalogs
  • Generate and circulate performance news
  • Supervise staff to manage performance/event calendars, websites, blogs, composer information, PR and social media for performance promotions
  • Oversee the writing and production of print and digital promotion materials
  • Establish and maintain annual departmental budget and goals for promotion activities
  • Report directly to CEO


Requirements:

  • 5 years related experience preferred – experience in the new music sector or promotional work with performers/ensembles a plus
  • BA or MA degree, preferably in Communications, Arts Management or similar, or in Music
  • Knowledge of classical music essential)
  • Established contacts in the classical music world in US and overseas a plus
  • Ability and willingness to travel and to work evenings to attend performances
  • Experience with personnel and budget management
  • Proven knowledge of online trends and experience in strategy development, reporting and analysis
  • Familiarity with digital marketing, newsletters, social media, blogging, podcasting, RSS, and other cross channel marketing tactics
  • Superb writing, copyediting, and proofreading skills
  • Enthusiastic, outgoing and confident communication style and excellent interpersonal and networking skills
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with graphics and audio software
  • Flexible and creative thinker


Compensation will depend upon prior experience. Excellent benefits package offered after 3 months of employment.

Accounting


Accounting Clerk

Carl Fischer and Theodore Presser are seeking an Accounting Clerk. This position is based in King of Prussia, PA.


Responsibilities include:

  • A/P: Entering invoices into accounting system; matching invoices to goods received; coordinating with departments for payments; checking costs
  • A/R: Making collection calls and managing customer payment issues; sending monthly statements; making bank deposits; assembling daily cash receipts
  • Assisting with administrative tasks
  • Reports to Accounting Manager


Requirements:

  • Accounting skills
  • General knowledge of accounts payable, collections, and cash management
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Works and especially Excel and other database applications (Microsoft Dynamics NAV)
  • Ability to multi-task, set priorities and solve problems with very little supervision
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details
  • Ability to work in a team and willingness to assist others as needed, all with a positive attitude
  • College degree preferred
  • Knowledge of music, in particular classical music, a plus


Compensation will depend upon prior experience. Full-time position that offers an attractive benefits package after three months, which includes paid vacation and holidays, a 401-K plan, health insurance, life insurance, short-term disability insurance and employee discounts.

Internships


Internship Program

Carl Fischer Music is offering students the opportunity to enhance their resume with real work experience. This is a great opportunity for students looking to gain hands-on knowledge and experience in the music publishing industry.


During the school year (summer, fall, and spring semesters), interns may work as many hours as they wish, with a minimum of 15-20 hours a week for at least 6 weeks (dates are flexible). Summer internships are up to full-time, 20-40 hours a week, for a minimum of 6 weeks (dates are flexible). All interns will receive a stipend of $4.00 an hour, as well as a reduced fare Metrocard to assist in transportation expenses. If applicable, this internship can also be used for college credit.

  • Royalties


The successful candidate will be a current undergraduate or graduate student who is motivated and passionate about (classical) music and the arts, experienced in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Excel and Word), possesses excellent communication skills, and the ability to learn new projects and procedures quickly. While candidates do not need to be a music student, some experience with music is helpful and some tasks require a basic knowledge of music.
