Carl Fischer Music is one of the country's oldest educational and classical music publishers. Located in New York City, the company maintains its own production, marketing, sales and copyright & licensing departments. We also assist many orchestras, ensembles and universities throughout the world with our music rental and custom print departments.

We are currently hiring for the following positions:





IT Coordinator

Carl Fischer/Theodore Presser Company is seeking an IT Coordinator to be responsible for the design, development, maintenance and support of information systems. The position is based in King of Prussia, PA.

Responsibilities include:

  • Systems administration
  • Software: ensure all software needs are properly accommodated (OS, MS Office, database, anti-virus, e-mail and spam filter)
  • Networking: create, maintain, and support the security of networks, and adapt networks to accommodate changing needs and achieve peak functionality
  • Hardware: oversee purchasing and maintenance of hardware for networking, server, data storage and back-up, desktop/client processing
  • Database Management: develop and maintain internal data
  • Prepare reports (VBA)
  • Website administration: lead the development of a new and improved website


  • BS/BA degree
  • Some IT work experience preferred
  • Website development/maintenance experience
  • Data management knowledge and experience a plus
  • Knowledge of Enterprise software (Microsoft Dynamics NAV preferred) for system administration and support
  • Network communication troubleshooting skills
  • SQL, HTML and PHP programming
  • Clear communication skills are essential
  • Ability to understand business requirements
  • Knowledge of music, in particular classical music, a plus

Internship Program

Carl Fischer Music is offering students the opportunity to enhance their resume with real work experience. This is a great opportunity for students looking to gain hands-on knowledge and experience in the music publishing industry.

During the school year (summer, fall, and spring semesters), interns may work as many hours as they wish, with a minimum of 15-20 hours a week for at least 6 weeks (dates are flexible). Summer internships are up to full-time, 20-40 hours a week, for a minimum of 6 weeks (dates are flexible). All interns will receive a stipend of $4.00 an hour, as well as a reduced fare Metrocard to assist in transportation expenses. If applicable, this internship can also be used for college credit.

  • Royalties

The successful candidate will be a current undergraduate or graduate student who is motivated and passionate about (classical) music and the arts, experienced in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Excel and Word), possesses excellent communication skills, and the ability to learn new projects and procedures quickly. While candidates do not need to be a music student, some experience with music is helpful and some tasks require a basic knowledge of music.
