THE YAMAHA ADVANTAGE™
Correlated Band Series
Band-o-rama March A razzle-dazzle march that is designed to be usable at more than one performance level, Band-o-rama is tuneful and full of high spirits. The unique aspect of the piece is that parts have been included for elementary/beginning players (C), middle school/intermediate players (B) and high school/advancing players (A) and the parts labeled accordingly. With whatever instruments and levels are available, the piece will sound good and is especially effective and useful for large combined school concert programs.
Duration: 3'15" Keys: Bb, Eb Ranges: Trumpet - F; Horn - C; Trombone - High Eb
Flourish A brilliant piece that begins with a majestic fanfare before moving on to a driving and spirited Allegro, Flourish is a great showcase for a developing 1st year band. The brassy opening theme of the fast section contrasts nicely with the legato wind and lower brass writing of the second idea and the two styles are woven together with verve and expertise, helped by active and imaginative use of percussion throughout.

Geology, The Study of Rock Propelled by a steady percussion beat and rocking bass line, Geology makes a "cool" contribution to the first year band repertoire. The audience is invited to get in on the fun during the clapping and stamping interlude and everybody in the band is guaranteed a good time while the chromatic twist in the thematic material is used to reinforce the introduction of concert E natural to the band's repertoire of pitches.

Prestige March A great introduction to march style and form, Prestige March follows much the same formula as the great marches of Sousa, Fillmore and others, while staying within the more limited framework of what a young band can do. Using only the 1st seven notes introduced in The Yamaha Advantage™ and other methods (A,Bb,C,D,Eb,F&G), Prestige March has music that is bright and full of catchy musical ideas and zestful scoring.

Primus Designed to be a young band musician's first experience playing an original concert band piece, Primus is simplicity itself. The style is forceful and the scoring on the dark side, which gives it a serious air. The piece sticks with the 1st five notes (Bb-F) traditionally taught by band methods and rhythms are confined to combinations of whole, half and quarter notes.

Winter Holidays Winter Holidays is a grand medley of festive tunes associated with the winter holiday period; Joy to the World, Jingle Bells, Good King Wenceslaus and Dreydl, Dreydl. The majestic opening with its lyrically moving lines, moves on in the following section to a livelier tempo juxtaposing the Chanukah favorite, Dreydl, Dreydl with Jingle Bells and then combining them in a rollicking climax. Winter Holidays will liven up the band's holiday program with music that has just the right festive touch.
