Adoramus te, one of the well-known Palestrina motets, has been edited by Mike Ware to put emphasis on the text itself rather than meter, as these songs were originally conceived. An inspired look at a masterwork, this edition is appropriate for choruses of many levels and would make a great selection for festival use.

Carols for Choirs II

This is the second set of Carols for Choirs from Joe Ambrosio, following Carols for Choirs I (CM9049), released in 2008. Like the other pieces in the collection, the ten songs in this volume are designed for unbalanced choral ensembles and sound wonderful with any combination of voices. For example, if you have many of treble voices and just a few male, these arrangements will still sound full and bright. Plus they work equally well with or without accompaniment! A staple for any choral library.

David Eddleman has crafted an excellent new arrangement of this timeless classic, adding lively descant ornaments in the soprano part and vocally percussive lines in the bass part. Recorded by a diverse group including Elvis Presley, Louis Armstrong and Van Morrison, "Down by the Riverside" is a spiritual with a long history. Certainly known in Civil War times, it is thought the "ain't goin' to study war no more" lyrics were added at that time. A colorful addition to any concert.

Incorporating "America the Beautiful” with the title tune, Russell Robinson gives us a rich, newly composed patriotic anthem. The question "Why have the fallen gone?" is answered; they go to preserve "peace for all of us." Halfway through the work, "America the Beautiful" is introduced. It can be performed by a double-chorus or with audience participation as the work concludes with both the title melody and “America the Beautiful” sung simultaneously. Optional brass parts are included for two trumpets and trombone.
