Amadeus in the Percussion Box is a Grade 1 composition featuring the percussion section of a band in its first year of instruction. The theme is a simplification of Papageno's famous "Bird Catcher's" aria from Mozart's opera The Magic Flute, and
provides an opportunity for beginning players to learn about crescendos as well as first and second endings.

Based on the “Bird Catcher’s” aria from Mozart’s The Magic Flute, this percussion feature uses instruments commonly found in most elementary school’s percussion supplies. While the percussion is featured, the rest of the band has plenty of opportunities to learn about first and second endings, dynamics, crescendos and Mozart’s impact upon the development of musical history.
