What began as a whimsical, off-hand comment in the rehearsal room—"giraffes are just horses with long necks"—unfolded into the heartfelt and present-minded anthem, Happy to Know You Right Now. This piece is a direct invitation to celebrate the magic of the current moment. Singers are invited to be creative with their performance of the different animal metaphors while also showing the character shift back and forth to the warmth and acceptance of the text.
