Hagyaték (Legacy)

Hagyaték is the Hungarian word for “legacy.” This work for two pianos and two percussion was commissioned by and dedicated to the icarus Quartet. As indicated by the title, the composition honors the imaginative and exhilarating music of Béla Bartók and György Ligeti, legendary composers whose influence resonates. Woven throughout the music is a theme written in memory of the composer’s friend, Loren Rush.
