Dr. Noé Sánchez received a Bachelor of Music Education as well as a Master’s in Musicology/Ethnomusicology with specialization in Latin-American Music from the University of North Texas. Dr. Sánchez also holds a Doctor of Sacred Music from the Graduate Theological Foundation specializing in Catholic Church music.
Dr. Sánchez has published several important books and articles such as “Mariachi Armonia Method Book” (2000), “The Current State of Mariachi Curriculum (2001), co-authored the teacher edition of “Mariachi Mastery” (2006) with Jeff Nevin, was President of MENC mariachi committee, which was responsible for publishing Foundations of Mariachi Education, ed. by William Gradante, was the Texas Association of Mariachi Educators President (TAME) from 2011-2014, and has published over 100 arrangements of mariachi music, specializing in beginner/intermediate level repertoire.
At the state level, Dr. Sánchez was in the UIL committee in 2006 which made mariachi programs be recognized as a UIL sanctioned music program in the state of Texas and was also involved in the UIL hock committee to create the current UIL state mariachi competition.
Dr. Sánchez has presented numerous clinics at TMEA and is busy as a TMAA judge in the state of Texas. Dr. Sánchez has taught courses at South Texas College (STC), University of Texas San Antonio (UTSA), as well as Texas State University (TSU).
